TD ‘Inday’ enhances monsoon rains, affecting Northern Luzon

QUEZON CITY, Philippines – The southwest monsoon is expected to bring heavy rains in most parts of northern Luzon.

Flash flood and landslides are expected In Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bataan, Zambales, Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands.

Meanwhile, scattered rain showers will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

Thunderstorms will be experienced in the Visayas and in Mindanao that may cause flash floods, especially in low-lying areas.

TD Inday is currently enhancing the southwest monsoon or habagat which PAGASA monitors at a distance of 935km east of Basco, Batanes, packed with maximum sustained winds of 75kph and gustiness of up to 90kph as of 10:00 a.m. Thursday (July 19).

TD Inday is currently moving at 20kph towards east and northeast direction while it is not expected to hit land mass in any part of the country. – Rey Pelayo / Marje Pelayo
