The front page picture of SunStar Cebu last Sunday, Dec. 27, as was intended, brought my attention to the mother and son fishing, but this attention was quickly diverted to the heavily littered, polluted, garbage-filled shoreline of the South Road Properties in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City.
In the past several months, media images of cleaner shorelines throughout the globe have surfaced due to the pandemic. Why would it be the opposite case here in Cebu? Or is this state of pollution relatively less compared to what is actually expected when Covid-19 was not around? Either case this front page picture does deserve to be front page for another reason, which is to call attention to those responsible for this sad state of affairs along the South Road Properties.
