Tell it to SunStar: Not afraid of the pandemic

I have a friend who lives in one of the urban barangays in Cebu City.

According to him, his neighbors and other members of the community no longer fear the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Not after several tested positive for the disease and were quarantined in the barangay gym in the early days of the pandemic.

They were in luck, my friend said, because among them was a barangay official, who, apparently, shelled out money for a case of RH every night and shared the bottles among his fellow patients. My friend said they even used a barangay vehicle to deliver the ice cold beer.

None of them developed any symptoms save for a cough here and a cold there. They all survived unscathed. Since then, he said, residents have not strictly complied with protocols.
