Tens of Thousands Attend Memorial for Kobe and Gianna Bryant

Video clips of Bryant’s life and basketball career were shown at a memorial tribute in Los Angeles on February 24 honoring Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven others killed in a helicopter crash on January 26.

The memorial — “A Celebration of Life” — was expected to draw at least 20,000 spectators to the Staples Center, where Bryant played for years with the Los Angeles Lakers.

In this video, Bryant can be heard discussing his ambition of being a great basketball player. Old game commentary and crowds cheering was edited together along with video of Bryant speaking.

Other victims of the crash included baseball coach John Altobelli, his wife, Keri, and their daughter Alyssa; Sarah and Payton Chester, a mother and daughter; basketball coach Christina Mauser; and pilot Ara Zobayan.

Vanessa Bryant, Kobe’s wife, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the helicopter operator company over the crash. Credit: @jdiaz_1981 via Storyful
