Tepora returns in December

EX-INTERIM World Boxing Association featherweight king Jhack Tepora finally makes his ring return after a long layoff.

Tepora slugs it out with veteran Ryan Maano in an eight-round light welterweight fight in one of the featured bouts of Harada Boxing Gym’s “Suntok sa Pagarap VII” on Dec. 17, 2021 in Bohol.

The 26-year-old Tepora has not fought for close to two years after losing to Oscar Escandon on Dec. 21, 2019 in Ontario, California. The Danao City native was blasted by Escandon with a wicked body shot in the very first round of the scheduled 10-rounder.

Tepora has been working his way back into fighting shape and is currently sparring with former world title contender Jeo Santisima at the Villamor Brothers Boxing Gym.

Maano should be a good return bout for Tepora, a fight that’ll shake off that ring rust and gauge what level he’s at right now.

Maano has lately become a gatekeeper, a fighter that would test up-and-coming fighters if they are ready for the next level. Maano fought three prospects in his last three fights.

He lost to Tomjune Mangubat and Carlo Bacaro but beat previously unbeaten Elmer Naason.

Tepora is 23-1 with 17 knockouts, while Maano is 5-11-2 with a knockout.

The show also features Bohol’s Sumabong brothers—Danrick and Joseph.

Danrick (10-2, 8 KOs) takes on Francis Jay Diaz (8-3-1, 1 KO), while Joseph (1-2, 1 KO) locks horns with Ramil Yacapin (2-4, 2 KOs). (EKA)
