Terence Calatrava named as new OPAV undersecretary

A CEBU-BASED businessman has been appointed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. as the new presidential assistant for the Visayas.

Terence Calatrava formally took his oath of office before Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin at Malacañang on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

In a statement sent to SunStar Cebu, Calatrava will serve as head of the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV), representing the President in Western, Central and Eastern Visayas regions, and coordinate with the different government agencies to ensure the effective and prompt delivery of services among local government units and their constituents.

Calatrava, who hails from Cebu, was formerly a businessman who was no stranger to public service. He was the regional director of Tingog Partylist.

Before Calatrava, OPAV was led by then Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Dino, who was appointed by then President Rodrigo Duterte to oversee his affairs in the region. (PR)
