ALMOST 5,000 residents from the fourth and fifth districts of Cebu have benefited from the medical mission conducted by Semi Di Speranza Foundation.

This was the second mission organized by the foundation this year.

Foundation founder Chili Tita Cabatingan said the beneficiaries received free eye consultations and free eyeglasses during the two-day mission held on July 23 and 24, 2022 at a gymnasium in Carmen town, northern Cebu.

Cabatingan said at least 80 wheelchairs were also given for free to people with walking impediments.

The foundation also distributed a 5-kilo rice bag to each of the beneficiaries.

A certain Wilma, who has six children and one of the wheelchair beneficiaries, said she would no longer carry her six-year-old child when they go to the church to hear mass or to some other places.

Wilma said her child with special needs has been experiencing difficulty walking since the age of three.

On May 21, 2022, the Semi Di Speranza Foundation Inc., formerly Luz Cabatingan Foundation, also conducted a medical mission at the City Institute gym in Barangay Sawang Calero, Cebu City.

The group provided free medical checkup and gave 50 wheelchairs to the patients, mostly elderly, as well as thousands of eyeglasses.

Former senatorial candidate Francis Leo Marcos, who ran but lost in the May 9, 2022 elections, was one of their sponsors for the wheelchairs and eyeglasses. (BBT, TPT)
