What better way to reminisce on the past than with a classic song from the ’70s? TikTok’s latest trend is to bond over nostalgic childhood memories with a sped-up version of the song “Angeleyes” by ABBA.
This TikTok posted by user @kendallharrow brings up Wannado City. According to Wikipedia, Wannado City was an indoor children’s amusement park in Sunrise, Fla. Children could role-play as if they were working “adult jobs,” such as grocery store clerks, firefighters or hospital workers. The park closed permanently in 2011.
As images of the TikToker’s memories play, viewers connect their nostalgic feelings to the lyrics of the ABBA song in the background:
“Sometimes when I’m lonely / I sit and think about him / And it hurts to remember all the good times / When I thought I could never live without him.”
TikTok users in the comments are delighted to see that others shared similar childhood experiences.
“Yesss, no cable gang!” A TikToker commented.
“Finally, I found someone I can relate to THAT ACTUALLY WATCHED PBS KIDS!” Another said.
This video shows TikToker @beetlepimpsidepiecee paying tribute to the late actor River Phoenix.
Those who grew up watching Phoenix’s films bonded over their admiration for the actor.
“River Phoenix would have made such an impact on Hollywood. If only he had the time,” a TikToker wrote.
“He was my very first crush in Stand By Me, and I was heartbroken as a kid realizing he had already died,” another commented.
Other TikTokers utilize the ABBA song to reflect on other silly things from the past; they aren’t precisely childhood memories, but they are still things worth remembering.
“Still the best video ever made,” the caption reads.
“I WANT TO REWATCH IT… IT WAS THE FUNNIEST THING I’VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE,” a TikToker commented.
This video shows TikToker @feelthebern511 wondering what could’ve been if Pangaea still existed.
“Simpler times,” a TikToker joked.
“Only 300,000,000 B.C. kids will understand,” someone else remarked.
