A traveling photographer captured the sun setting behind the Chicago skyline from the western shore of Michigan on October 8.
Mahlmann took the timelapse footage from the shore of Lake Michigan in Grand Mere State Park, about 60 miles from the metropolis.
“Ever wondered if you can see the tippy tops of the Chicago skyline from the western shores of Michigan? Well, you can!” Mahlmann wrote under the video he originally uploaded to YouTube.
Mahlmann listed the towers seen in the video, including: Willis Tower (also known as the Sears Tower), the Aon Center, and the John Hancock Center.
“The zoom-in about halfway through the timelapse shows a plane taking off from O’Hare Int’l Airport,” he wrote in the original YouTube description. Credit: Trevor Mahlmann via Storyful
