CEBUANO wingman Roger Pogoy showed guts over fear as he shrugged off a tender ankle and scored 20 of his game-high 30 points to lead the TNT Tropang Giga past the previously unbeaten Phoenix Super LPG, 110-91, in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena and Cultural Center.

Initially ruled as a game-time decision after suffering an ankle sprain in their previous game against San Miguel, the Talisay City native showed no ill effects of his injured ankle as he led a 30-14 TNT spurt in the third canto that turned a 54-45 deficit into a 75-68 lead heading to the last quarter.

Pogoy, Bobby Ray Parks, JP Erram and Troy Rosario all took turns puncturing Phoenix’s defense to bring TNT’s lead to a high of 20, 107-87, with just 1:30 to go in the game.

Aside from the 30 points, the University of Cebu high school product added give rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block. Erram meanwhile, continued his dominant showing inside as he piled up 18 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks.

Simon Enciso chipped in 13, Parks added 12, Rosario finished with 11 while Ryan Reyes and Jaycon Castro each had 10 points for the Tropang Giga, which now hold the solo lead in the standings at 4-0 (win-loss).

Matthew Wright was the lone bright spot for Phoenix, scoring 31 points as the Fuel Masters dropped to 2-1. However, the rest of the Fuel Masters’ starting five put up a massive dud and accounted for just 23 points. Jason Perkins, who had a career-high 31 markers last time out, managed just eight points this time around. (JNP)
