TNT looks to secure top four spot

The TNT Tropang Giga seek to clinch a top four finish as they take on a Rain or Shine squad that is battling for its playoff ticket in the PBA Philippine Cup on Tuesday, November 10, at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Center in Pampanga.

Tip-off is scheduled at 4 p.m. and will be followed by another crucial game that features San Miguel and NorthPort.

The Tropang Giga are looking to avoid any complications and thus, will go all out to get a win that would let them close the elimination round with an 8-3 (win-loss) record. A victory would give TNT a spot in the top four and a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinal round.

A loss by TNT may have dire ramifications as six other teams are within striking distance. That group includes Rain or Shine, which owns a 5-4 card and needs a victory to keep their hopes of making it to the next round alive.

TNT head coach Bong Ravena said it is crucial that they get a top four finish.

"Top four is the big deal. We'll go for it," Ravena was quoted as saying on the league’s website.

Rain or Shine on the other hand, are uncertain if they’ll have top guard Rey Nambatac, who suffered an ankle sprain in their 82-71 win over Blackwater last Sunday. It also remains to be seen if the team will have Beau Belga and James Yap, who are also nursing injuries. (JNP)
