The TNT Tropang Giga will be looking to bag its second win when the take on the debuting Terrafirma Dyip in the 2020 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup on Tuesday evening, October 13, 2020 at the Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Complex in Pampanga.
Even though TNT came away with a 100-95 win over the Alaska Aces during the league’s restart last Sunday, head coach Bong Ravena is far from reaching the level he knows his team can reach.
"Malayo pa, wala pa kami. I mean, sa level na gusto namin. Siguro wala pa sa kalahati. Hopefully we can learn from this game and madala namin sa mga next games. So many turnovers and defensive lapses," said Ravena.
Down by as much as 17 points, TNT leaned on the scorching-hot shooting of Cebuano wingman Roger Pogoy to pull off the season-opening win. The Talisay City-native sank 10 three-pointers en route to scoring a career-high 45 points.
On the other hand, Terrafirma Dyip head coach Johnedel Cardel is hoping they could get their season off to a great start. With top rookie Roosevelt Adams and reigning Rookie of the Year CJ Perez, the Dyip certainly have the tools to pull off a win in their season-opening game.
"We just want to start well and sustain it para magkaroon kami ng better chance of winning," said Cardel.
Cardel added that it’s going to take a total team effort to snatch a win against a team of TNT’s caliber and he made sure to remind his stalwarts of that.
"I told Roosevelt to let the game come to him and huwag masyadong manggigil," revealed Cardel. "And of course, CJ is CJ, pero I keep reminding them all na it's not just about two or three guys. It's all about playing as a team, lalo na sa defensive end." (JNP)
