Kent, United Kingdom

Remain close to home with a British staycation to Kent, which in 2020 should be a vintage year for the winemaking region. There's also ancient castles and the famous white cliffs to appeal to travellers. Stay at the newly-opened Pig at Bridge Place for £99, or try the Elmley Nature Reserve shepherd's huts (for 2-4) and two stylish houses (for 10-14) on a wild nature reserve, for £95. [Photo: Getty]

With the new year quickly approaching, you’re likely thinking of the best places to travel come 2020.

You might be even planning to book ahead in the upcoming Black Friday flights sales.

But where should you set your sights on? Yes, it might be likely to fall back on favourite British holiday spots such as Majorca and Marbella in Spain, but you could experience a less crowded scene and get more bang for your buck by broadening your horizons, say experts at i-escape, a holiday bookings website.

The platform has rounded up a dozen of its best travel spots for the coming year, with options to suit all budgets starting at just £53 a night.

Options range from European spots such as Istria, Croatia, and the eastern Algarve coast in Portugal, while also include places further afield such as South Goa in India and Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica.
