Top Korean Drama Actor Accused Of Rape

MANILA, Philippines - Popular Korean actor Park Si Hoo is facing charges of rape following a complaint by a 22-year-old aspiring actress whom he admitted having sex with.

The rape charges are threatening the career of the actor, who recently starred in the top-rating Korean drama "Cheongdam-dong Alice."

According to reports, the unidentified aspiring actress filed a complaint with the police and accused the actor of raping her.

She reportedly called first the One Stop Support Center to tell her story before going to the police.

The One Stop Support Center, according to the website of Korea's Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, "is operated by an expert medical organization to provide comprehensive supports of investigation, medical care, counseling, and legal aid for women victims of sexual violence or domestic violence. The center is equipped with proper facilities and system that can provide medical treatment by expert obstetricians and psychiatrists, professional counseling for the victims and their family members, investigation by women police officers and legal aid for 24 hours a day."

In a press statement, the actor admitted having a drink with the woman and having sexual relations with her.

"To be honest, I do admit that I had drinks with a woman whom I was introduced to through an acquaintance. We shared our emotions as a man and woman with affection; I did not force any relations on her. My conscience is clear on this, and it will be made clear through the investigation," said Park Si Hoo, according to ENewsWorld.

He apologized to his fans and promised to cooperate with the police in the investigation.

"Outside of the incident, I wish to sincerely apologize for troubling my fans, who sent me such unwavering trust and love for a long time. I want to emphasize, however, that there was no use of force involved in the situation, as some seem to be concerned of. I promise I will cooperate fully with the police investigation to prove it," he said.

Park Si Hoo was an underwear model before debuting as an actor in the drama series "Delightful Girl Choon-hyang" in 2005.

He starred in other dramas such as "Iljimae" in 2008, "Queen of Reversals" in 2010, "Prosecutor Princess" in 2010 and "The Princess' Man" in 2011.

He won the best actor awards in the KBS Drama Awards in 2011.
