Top PVL teams beg off from competing in Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship

The top teams of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) has begged off from competing in the upcoming 2021 AVC Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship in Thailand.

The invite was initially offered to recently crowned champions Chery Tiggo. However, team manager Ronwald Dimaculangan declined the invite owing to the fact that several key players are still recovering from injuries. They are also concerned over the rise of Covid-19 cases in Thailand, which will host the tournament from October 1 to 7.

With Chery Tiggo saying no, National Team Commissions head Tonyboy Liao said the same invite was offered to runner-up Creamline as well as third placer Petro Gazz and Choco Mucho. However, all the said teams also begged off, citing concern for the number of Covid-19 cases in Thailand.

With this development, Philippine National Volleyball Federation president Tats Suzara has requested PVL boss Ricky Palou to invite Sta. Lucia, who has yet to give their answer to the said invite. (JNP)
