THE Cebu City Tourism Commission (CTTC) has tapped the expertise of 16 tour guides as it prepares for a tourism comeback next year.

CTTC chairperson Jocelyn Pesquera said these tour guides with job orders (JOs) from the Cebu City Government will handle planned tourism activities starting next year.

“We hired the accredited tour guides as JOs. We tasked them to make concept papers and narrative for the highland blooms, urban and coastal and other planned tourism activities of the City,” said Pesquera.

She added that these JOs have lost their jobs as the global tourism took a pause due to the coronavirus pandemic, which halted all travel movements.

CCTC earlier announced it would launch outdoor tourism next year, highlighting flower farms and other eco-tourism spots located in the city’s highlands.

By 2022, it will launch urban and coastal tours promoting the city’s long stretch of coastline.

Another interesting product of Cebu’s cultural and heritage tours will also be marketed soon. Pesquera said they will highlight stories that took place not only during the Spanish era but also during American and Japanese occupations. (KOC)
