THE first Olympic-standard track oval and grandstand in northern Cebu will soon rise in Barangay Jubay, Liloan.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the facility on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020, was led by Liloan Mayor Ma. Esperanza Christina Frasco and her husband Fifth District Rep. Vincent Franco Frasco.
The announcement was posted on the Facebook page of Congressman Frasco on Saturday, Aug. 22.
The project is the biggest project of the Frascos to benefit residents of Liloan.
The multi-year project plan includes an Olympic-standard rubberized track, an Olympic-standard swimming pool, a gymnasium, basketball courts, tennis courts, a football field and a skate park.
The site preparations are being done on the property owned by the Liloan Municipal Government.
The initial budget allocated for the project is P20 million, which is already included in the 2020 General Appropriations Act for the first phase of the project, which will get subsequent funding.
The bidding for the project was already completed.
Team Frasco also plans to build classrooms in the lower part of the grandstand as an extension of the Cebu Technological University Liloan campus.
The Frascos emphasized that their priority is to provide good education to their constituents.
When Congressman Frasco was still mayor of Liloan, he initiated a scholarship program that helped thousands of students. Now that he is a congressman, more students benefit from his scholarship program in 10 towns and one city under the fifth district. (KFD with PR)
