Trank to reboot "Fantastic Four"

15 Jul – No one could have expected Josh Trank's 2012 directorial debut "Chronicle" to have done so well, and now that it had, thanks to its superhero twist in its found-footage format, 20th Century Fox is counting on Trank to revive their "Fantastic Four" series.

According to Deadline, Trank has been set to direct a reboot that will likely introduce an all-new cast to play the superhero group who gained special powers following their exposure to solar radiation.

The last feature film adaptation of "Fantastic Four" was directed by Tim Story in 2007, known as "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer", which is also the sequel to Story's 2005 "Fantastic Four" film. It starred Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards, Jessica Alba as Sue Storm, Chris Evans as Johnny Storm, and Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm a.k.a. The Thing.

Production and release dates for the reboot have not been confirmed, but it is expected that the reboot will land on the same track with the studio's sequels for "Wolverine" and "X-Men: First Class".

Meanwhile, Fox is also looking for a new director to reboot another Marvel superhero film, "Daredevil", after previously attached director David Slade had to opt out from the project due to scheduling conflicts.
