Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV who earlier defended Vice President Leni Robredo's viral TikTok gimmick made his own version of the now-trending clip to clap back against the Vice President’s critics.

"Let Leni lead," Trillanes captioned, mimicking Robredo's gesture in the popular TikTok video.

Robredo's backers were called out by the former Navy officer, who used the hashtags #TeamLeni, #DapatSiLeni, #SonnyTrillanes and #Trillanes.

In a Facebook post, Trillanes, who is running for Senate under Robredo's banner, backed Robredo's decision to use the popular mobile app to address her political foes she labeled as thieves, liars, and traitors.

Trillanes said she scored a home run with her TikTok video, which will open the door to further discussions.

It's hard to predict how successful a campaign will be." Some political gimmicks are successful, while others aren't so much. "The VP's latest TikTok video, it was a hit!" he said.

Trillanes added that “It penetrated the Gen Z crowd; broke the algorithm; created conversations; and provided an opening for future discourses.”
