Tropical storm ‘Dante’ puts some parts of Cebu under signal no. 1

(UPDATED) SOME parts in northern Cebu and Visayas are placed under signal no. 1 as tropical storm Dante moves northwest toward Eastern Visayas and strong winds are expected within 36 hours.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) listed the following areas in Cebu that are placed under signal no. 1, as of 11 a.m. of June 1, 2021:

• Cebu City

• Mandaue City

• Lapu-Lapu City

• Consolacion

• Cordova

• Toledo City

• City of Talisay

• Minglanilla

• City of Naga

• Pinamungahan

• San Fernando

• Aloguinsan

• City of Carcar

• Tuburan

• Danao City

• Carmen

• Catmon

• Sogod

• Tabuelan

• Tabogon

• San Remigio

• Borbon

• City of Bogo

• Medellin

• Daanbantayan

• Asturias

• Balamban

• Compostela

• Liloan

• Bantayan Island

• Camotes Island

Other parts in the Visayas include the northeastern portion of Capiz, the northeastern portion of Negros Occidental and Bohol.

Some parts of Luzon and Mindanao have also been placed under signal no. 1.

The Philippine Coast Guard has canceled boat trips in these areas.

In its latest bulletin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, Pagasa announced that tropical storm Dante is now 270 km east of Maasin City, Southern Leyte.

Pagasa said that from June 1 until June 2 morning, Dante will bring moderate to heavy and sometimes intense rains in several parts of the Visayas. (REV/NRC)
