Truck N’ Trail (TNT) Transport Services took down Fighter Fifty Wine, 78-57, to inch closer to a finals spot in the 1st Mayor Michael L. Rama Basketball Invitational League 2022 on Tuesday night at the Cebu City Sports Institute.
The win allowed TNT to end their elimination round with a flourish as they hold a 3-1 win-loss card. They will now await the result of the match between the league-leading Deon Motors and the formidable ARQ Builders on Wednesday night to see if they will play in the championship game.
TNT took full control of the game in the third as they turned a slim six-point advantage into a 62-46 bulge heading to the final canto. They then refused to budge and cruised to the victory.
University of the Visayas big man Michael Maestre led TNT with 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Froilan Mangubat added 10 markers.
Dondon Hontiveros led Fighter Fifty with 15 points but it wasn’t enough to keep the team from losing its third game in a row.
The other match saw ARQ dominate the Court Generals, 111-94, to improve to 2-1.
ARQ did not hesitate to leave their mark on the game as they established a 33-18 lead after the first 10 minutes of action. It was all ARQ, all game long as they led by as much as 39 points, 96-57.
Emman Calo led ARQ with 21 points, while San Beda ace JB Bahio added 20 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and a steal.
Giovanni Padillo scored 29 points for the Court General, while Macmac Tallo—in town for a brief vacation—added 22 points, 12 assists, and eight boards.
