Truck N’ Trail routs TSO & Co. to advance to MCBL Season 6 quarterfinals

Truck N’ Trail (TNT) hardly broke a sweat in dispatching of TSO, & Co., 68-49, in the Sweet 16 stage of the Metro Cebu Basketball League Season 6 last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu basketball court inside the Cebu Business Park.

Truck N’ Trail showed plenty of reasons why they’re considered one of the title contenders, as they built a 13-point lead at halftime, 35-22, before dominating the rest of the second half to hack out the win and move on to the quarterfinals.

Jeric Gonzaga led TNT with 12 points and five rebounds, while Rannel Cortes and Miko Pahugot had 11 markers each.

In other Sweet 16 games, the ARQ-Cokaliong prevailed over RMA Cargo, 62-58. Down by 13 points, 39-52, the team of businessmen Jason Arquisola and Chase Cokaliong mounted an incredible comeback and outscored RMA, 25-13, in the fourth to pull off the close win.

Former Cesafi Mythical Five forward Jerome Napao had a huge double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds to push ARQ-Cokaliong to the next round.

Lite Shipping Corporation also trounced the PLDT Speed Boosters, 85-64, to advance to the Elite Eight. Lite Shipping outclassed PLDT in the second canto, 23-6, to set the tone for the one-sided affair.

Albert Echavarria had 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting for Lite Shipping.

Artera Builders demolished Targeted Ads, 99-80, thanks to a balanced scoring attack led by Arnold Quilaton who had 17 points highlighted by five three-pointers.

Oninz General Merchandise also advanced to the quarterfinals with a dominant 100-64 win over the Wagas Ukeleles Golden Tigers. Dave Butaya scored 28 points for Oninz in the easy win.

The reigning champions Sherilin Plastics also romped over the Hotshots, 109-84, with Jeco Bancale scoring 18 points and James Ferraren tallying 17 points and 11 boards.

And finally, the San Fernando Templars edged the Angkol Breakers, 77-71, with Ryan Obaob producing 22 points, six boards, and five assists.
