Twitter index: Andrew Strauss, MTV Video Music Awards, New Orleans

On August 29 Twitter users are buzzing about Andrew Strauss's retirement, the nominees for the MTV Video Music Awards and sharing concerns and news about New Orleans. 

English cricketer, and former national team captain, Andrew Strauss announced his retirement from the game with immediate effect on August 29. Strauss was generally beloved by England fans, having scored a total of 474 runs in England's 2009 2-1 Ashes victory and holding the current record for most catches by an outfield player for England.

Also trending is New Orleans which has been badly hit by Hurricane Isaac, just seven years after Katrina.  According to reports, a storm caused by Hurricane Isaac has run over a levee in Plaquemines Parish, South New Orleans and has left many people in New Orleans itself without power.
