Twitter index: Bieber fans celebrate American Music Awards

On Monday, November 19,  fans of Justin Bieber are taking to Twitter to celebrate the pop star's hat trick of honors at the American Music Awards. 

Justin Bieber's legions of Twitter fans have taken to the microblogging site to congratulate the pop star on being honored with "favorite pop/rock male artist," "favorite pop/rock album" for Believe, and scooping the show's top prize -- the "favorite artist of the year" award.

Under the trending topic "AMAs," Bieber's fans are dominating Twitter with their thoughts and insights on the pop star's victory such as "it's just like yesterday justin won in people's choice and now AMAs. well Beliebers will never get tired of celebrations!" from user Carter Manson; "So overwhelmed about the AMAs, Justin took all those awards like a boss. And haters say he's fading? He's the ARTIST OF 2012!" from Raven Claw; and "Justin won 3 AMAs -> Best Pop Male, Best Pop album and Artist of the Year. Couldn't be happier," from Take Me Home.  

Other artists at the American Music Awards, such as Taylor Swift who won Favorite Female Country Artist Award, are also getting a shout-out from their Twitter fan base under "AMAs".

Elsewhere in the world of pop music, One Direction fans are playing a game with the band incorporating the names of One Direction songs with popular foods. The band themselves started the game tweeting "Uh oh - it's Monday again! Let's cheer ourselves up with a game!#1Dfood - GO! We'll RT our faves! (We'll start..TAKEAWAY Me Home!) 1DHQ x."

Outside of music, Twitter users are already wishing each other a "Happy Thanksgiving" although the traditional American celebration officially takes place Thursday, November 22.
