Typhoon Paeng intensifies as it churns inside PAR

QUEZON CITY, Philippines – Typhoon Paeng continues to intensify as it moves inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

As of 3:00 a.m. Monday (September 24), the weather agency PAGASA monitored the weather system at 1,100 km east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan packed with maximum sustained winds of 170kph and gustiness of up to 210kph.

It is moving towards west-northwest direction at a speed of 20kph.

Based on PAGASA’s forecast track, Paeng will head towards northern Luzon before it exits to Taiwan.

Paeng has no direct effect on the country, so far, but tropical storm warning signal is likely to be raised over Batanes and nearby islands.
