UC Webmasters stops USPF Panthers winning run in Cesafi Season 22

The University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters put an end to the four-game winning streak of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers with a 66-60 victory on Thursday night in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Season 22 collegiate basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.

It was a crucial win for UC as it helped them even their record up at 3-3 as the chase for one of the Final Four spots continues.

Michael Diaz had 14 points and five rebounds to lead UC while veteran guard Paul Galinato added 12. Jhiey Paraldo chipped in 11 markers to help the Webmasters gain some form of vengeance against this USPF squad that defeated them 79-68 in their first-round match-up.

UC got the upper hand on USPF and established a huge 18-point bulge before the Panthers fought back to trim the deficit in half. But the Webmasters had answers every step of the way to come away victorious in the contest.

CJ Alilin, Neon Chavez, and Karl Langahin paced the Panthers with 10 points apiece. USPF dropped to 4-2.

Meanwhile, over in the high school competition, the UC Main Campus toppled the UC Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue, 72-54. Mark Solonia stood tall for the Baby Webmasters as he had 11 points on top of three blocks.
