UNBEATEN Filipino-Hawaiian prospect Arnold Dinong faces Brandon Cruz in a six-round fight on July 27 (PH time) at the Omega Products International Event Center in Corona, California.
This will be the 26-year-old Dinong’s first fight in 2020.
He last saw action on Sept. 20, 2019 and won a lopsided unanimous decision over Prisco Marquez in Ontario, Canada.
Dinong, who is now based in Daly City, made his pro debut in 2018 with a unanimous decision over Tyler Marshall and won his next five fights.
Dinong is training under the tutelage of Cebuano Bruno Escalante, who was once a fighter himself.
The 21-year-old Cruz, on the other hand, is coming off a loss in his last fight. He dropped a split decision to Edward Vazquez on Jan. 31, 2019 and suffered his first career defeat.
Dinong is 6-0 with a knockout, while Cruz is 6-1 with four knockouts.
Dinong will be the eighth Filipino to see action in the US since the return of boxing from the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Magic" Mike Plania, Cameron Krael, Reymond Yanong and Mark Benaldez already saw action inside The Bubble of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mark John Yap and John Vincent Moralde are scheduled to fight inside The Bubble on July 17 (PH time), while former world title challenger Mercito Gesta is fighting on July 25 (PH time) in Indio, California. (EKA)
