THE University of San Carlos Senior High - South School invites art lovers and enthusiasts from all over Cebu to witness the launching of GENRE+: A student exhibition depicting scenes of daily life and more. It opens on Saturday, May 28, 2022, 3:00 p.m. at the Upper Ground Floor, City Wing Bridgeway, SM Seaside City Cebu.

GENRE+ is the latest of the art exhibitions organized by this year’s art and design track students of the University of San Carlos Senior High School - South Campus. This year, it will be divided into two main sections featuring the best works in Genre Art and Mural Art on animal welfare advocacy.

The Genre Art display is meant to capture the beauty hidden beneath the seemingly trivial realities of daily life and, as such elevate the commonplace. This theme is purposely chosen for its familiarity—a simple and honest depiction of life as it is. GENRE+ is not merely an appreciation of the ordinary subject matter, but a celebration of life itself and all its simplicity. It is a reminder to all that there is beauty and inspiration in the most unexpected and ordinary circumstances of daily life.

The Mural Art display aims to give a voice to the voiceless, help raise awareness to their plight and drum up all support for the cause of animal welfare. It is anchored and inspired by Pope Francis’ 2015 Encyclical, "Laudatu Si," which speaks against the destruction of our common home, the Earth, and enjoins humanity for the fair and proper treatment of God’s creations. It further reinforces humanity's responsibility to protect and care for the planet and all His created beings. And it emphasizes man’s stewardship, not dominion, over all creation.

This mural art exhibit is a love letter dedicated to the welfare of all animals across the planet with the hope of strengthening and celebrating the bond between humanity and all the wonderful creatures that also call this beautiful planet home.

GENRE+ is the culminating event of the grade 12 graduating class of 2022 and will run for two weeks from May 28 to June 11. It is open to all and admission is free. PR.
