FORMER University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Baby Jaguars wingman Dilcer Gaviola is headed to Letran where he will join a powerhouse Knights squad that is trying to defend its title in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
An athletic left-handed wingman, the 6-foot-1 Gaviola played a key role for USJ-R in their championship conquest of the 2019 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Preseason Partner’s Cup. And while the Baby Jaguars did not generate much buzz in the 2019 Cesafi season, failing to even crack the Final Four, Gaviola played well enough to be noticed and get eventually recruited by Letran.
Gaviola’s presence adds to an already loaded Letran roster that just recruited former University of Santo Tomas standouts Rhenz Abando, Brent Paraiso and Ira Battaler.
Gaviola will join UST high school’s Lloyd Oliva, Chiang Kai Shek’s Rafael Go, National University’s Jeff Mailim and Jimly Lantaya and Perpetual’s Yuki Kawamura as Letran’s rookie recruits. (JNP)
