BEFORE we delve into specifics, here’s a statement from the artist herself. “Nature creates in ways that reflect the symmetry and mystery of the universe. It is the best designer. I respect it by not creating something trend-driven rather, that the pieces are timeless...” This is what jewelry designer/photographer Amanda Luym, expressed during her joint exhibit with noted landscaper/purveyor of fine, exotic plants, Jaime Chua. The event “All that Glitters” was held at the HoliCOW Gallery at Crossroads in Banilad, Cebu City.
The collection highlighted the quintessential elements of style, elegance and grace; So typical of Cebu, the Pearl City of the South and where Amanda was born. With her cousin, Cacay Moras-Server, they fashioned one-of-a-kind freshwater pearls of various tones and sizes, inspired by local flora and fauna.
Together with the striking beauty of muted neutrals and modern pearls, indigenous orchids and rare, exotic flora from the extensive gardens of collector/landscaper Jaime Chua were also on stunning display. Jaime’s magic touch with plants was truly awesome!
And to add to another delightful surprise was the photo exhibit of Amanda, focusing on botanical subjects.
The event was indeed, not only a show of fashion and flora but of amazing talent as well!
