UV Green Lancers moves to 5-0 with win over UC in Cesafi Season 22 collegiate basketball

The University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers kept their pristine record intact as they put down the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters, 76-61, in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) Season 22 men’s basketball tournament last Saturday night at the Cebu Coliseum.

UV encountered rough waters early on as they trailed, 14-3, in the first period. However, the battle-tested Green Lancers turned things around and grabbed the upper hand, 37-35, at halftime before pulling in front by 11, 61-50, heading to the last 10 minutes of action.

UC relented and came within three, 68-71, late in the game, but UV’s veteran big man Ted Saga shut the door with his game-clinching free-throws. UV holds an immaculate 5-0 record, while UC dropped to 2-3.

Meanwhile, the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers extended their winning run to four games after defeating the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors, 77-68.

Up by just six, 39-33, at halftime, USPF turned their intensity up and established a double-digit advantage that kept them comfortably ahead for most of the second half and eventually capture their fifth win against a lone loss.

Winston Bingil led USPF with 16 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
