Dolly Parton got a dose of her own medicine, literally, in Nashville, Tennessee, on March 2 when she received a dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, the development of which she helped fund.
Parton repurposed her song Jolene to encourage others to get vaccinated. “Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine,” she sang, “I’m begging of you please don’t hesitate. Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, because once you’re dead, then that’s a bit too late.”
Parton said she was serious about the vaccine and getting back to normal.
“I just want to say to all of you cowards out there, don’t be such a chicken squat," she said. "Get out there and get your shot.” Credit: Dolly Parton via Storyful
