The Valenzuela City government has implemented a food voucher system to distribute food packs to its residents.
The said food vouchers, which were distributed beginning Monday (March 23), include the time, date, and place where residents can avail their food packs.
According to Mayor Rex Gatchalian, the food voucher system aims for an organized distribution of food assistance to avoid crowds. This is for the residents to still follow the physical distancing protocols amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) threat.
Residents would undergo temperature checks and would have to sanitize before receiving their food packs.
According to Barangay Marulas Chairman Emmanuel Espino, the said voucher system is effective in ensuring all the residents will receive food packs.
“Ang first wave, 6,500. Ang naipamigay na namin na stub is almost 50%, (The first wave is 6,500. The stub we already distributed is almost 50%)” he said.
The Valenzuela Government, meanwhile, targets to provide assistance to all indigent families in the city. AAC (with reports from Harlene Delgado)
