THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) has extended by a week the validity of motor vehicle registration scheduled for renewal in February.
Owners of vehicles that have number two as the last digit of the license plates were scheduled to renew their registration papers this month.
The registration papers of the vehicles with middle numbers one, two and three in the license plates are valid until Feb. 15, instead of Feb. 7.
The registration papers of vehicles with middle numbers four, five and six are valid until Feb. 22, instead of Feb. 14.
The validity of the registration papers of vehicles with middle numbers seven and eight in the license plates has been moved from Feb. 21 to Feb. 28.
The expiry date of the registration papers of vehicles with middle numbers nine and zero in the license plates has been changed to March 8, instead of Feb. 28.
LTO 7 Director Victor Caindec said the directive came from the LTO central office with the approval of the Department of Transportation.
Caindec said the extension of vehicle registration validity was decided to give owners more time in processing their papers as transactions in private and public sectors have been affected by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
The LTO, he said, could also extend the validity of vehicle registration that will expire in March if the pandemic-related restrictions continue to affect government transactions. (PAC)
