A 34-YEAR-OLD man was fatally stabbed on Hernan Cortes St. in Barangay Cabancalan, Mandaue City at 6:40 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020.
The victim was identified as Markgel Borces Cribello, who sold newspapers and bottled water along A.S. Fortuna St.
Cribello had been pedaling his trisikad toward his house before the incident happened.
When Cribello reached a surplus store, the unidentified culprit stabbed him in the back twice, according to Staff Sgt. Richard Cabello, the investigator assigned to solve the murder.
A medical team from the Mandaue City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office rushed to the area. It tried to revive Cribello, but it failed.
The culprit’s built was small. He wore a bonnet, a black jacket and pants. However, he was barefoot, according to the minor who saw the incident.
Before he was stabbed, Cribello had figured in an argument with a fellow newspaper vendor.
Cabello said he will check the security camera footage at the City’s command center to determine where the culprit fled. He said the establishments near the crime scene have no closed-circuit television cameras. (KFD / KAL)
