THE viaduct of the Cebu South Coastal Road in Cebu City will be closed from June 13 to 15, 2020, to allow the contractor of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) to install portal frames.
The installation of portal frames (designed for use below ground to provide waterways or pedestrian subways) will start at 8 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.
Aside from closing the viaduct to traffic, the tunnel and access point to the viaduct in the vicinity of Compaña Maritima will also be closed.
Erwin Navales, operation chief of the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO), said they will open the junction toward Barangay Mambaling from SM Seaside City Cebu so the motorists from Talisay City can turn left.
Vehicles from the North Reclamation Area and Cebu City proper can travel along N. Bacalso Ave.
The CCTO will deploy six traffic enforcers to manage the flow of vehicles in the area.
After 5 p.m., Navales said the CCTO will open the viaduct to traffic.
The construction of CCLEX, which has a length of 8.5 kilometers, started in 2017. The expressway is expected to open in 2021. It would connect Cordova town on Mactan Island to Cebu City in mainland Cebu. (PAC)
