Afghan Peace Activists Begin Sit-In at UN Offices in Kabul

Helmand peace activists began a sit-in outside the United Nations complex in Kabul on June 24, after walking more than 400 miles across Afghanistan in protest at the violence and conflict that have ravaged the country for almost two decades.

The group began their march on May 12, Tolo News said, setting out from Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand province, which is largely under Taliban control.

The demonstrators said that future protests would target focus on foreign embassies in Kabul. Credit: Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty via Storyful
