A well-loved pier at Kure Beach, North Carolina, was said to be “holding on strong” as Hurricane Florence brought strong winds and waves to the US East Coast on Friday, September 14.
Wilmington resident and state trooper Bryan Phillips provided residents with updates on the conditions in the area throughout the storm. Phillips also shared images of downed power lines and trees, but said he saw “minor erosion” on the beach when he checked during a break in the storm Friday morning. The footage shows waters washing right up towards buildings at low tide, and Phillips said there were concerns that a high tide could cause flooding.
