Harare Church Volunteers Gather Donations for Cyclone Idai Relief Effort

Volunteers with the Highlands Presbyterian Church in Harare, Zimbabwe, gathered donations on March 19 for people affected by Cyclone Idai.

The church established itself as a collection point for donations of food, medicine, toiletries and other assorted goods, the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation reported. This footage shows scenes outside the church as people cheer and organize the contributions.

Cyclone Idai pummeled southeastern Africa on the week of March 15, leaving an estimated 1,000 feared dead in Mozambique and 200 missing in Zimbabwe, according to reports from South Africa’s News 24. Credit: @1changamire via Storyful
