A women’s tag rugby team in New South Wales got a harsh lesson in the perils of celebrating prematurely at the close of their championship game on September 16.
The West Wallsend Magpies were winning 6-4 against the Cardiff Cobras in the Newcastle and Hunter Rugby League ladies tier-B decider with the clock winding down. One of their players, after hearing the full-time hooter, threw the ball in the air in celebration. Unfortunately for her, the ball stayed in play, allowing an opposition player to simply pick it up and run in the winning score. Ouch. Credit: BarTV Sports via Storyful
