The International Space Station passed over Hurricane Maria, giving a view of the size of the category five storm, on Tuesday, September 19. The storm was headed on a collision course with Puerto Rico after ripping through several other islands.

Dominica Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said on Facebook there was widespread devastation. “So far we have lost all what money can buy and replace,” he wrote. “My greatest fear for the morning is that we will wake to news of serious physical injury and possible deaths as a result of likely landslides triggered by persistent rains.” Credit: NASA via Storyful
