At Least 46 Killed in Taiwan Building Fire

At least 46 people were killed and 41 injured, local officials said, in a fire at a partly abandoned building in the south Taiwan city of Kaohsiung on October 14.

The fire broke out at what the Taiwan News said was a “ghost building” in Kaohsiung’s Yancheng district.

The building is 40 years old and a “deteriorating structure,” the paper said. It was home to around 120 households across several floors. Credit: Zhengyi Xu Yi via Storyful
