Livestream Captures Lava From Fissures In Lower Puna, Hawaii

A livestream captured lava flow from Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano in lower Puna on May 23. Several volcanic fissures reactivated after an eruption at the summit of Kilauea on May 17, causing a continuous lava outpour. This video shows lava at fissure 20.

The USGS said it was not yet possible to tell if the fissures would become long-term active vents or would only remain active for a brief period of time. Credit: Honolulu Civil Beat via Storyful
