Long lines formed outside the US Capitol building in Washington on July 27 as people waited to honor Georgia congressman John Lewis at a public casket viewing following his death.
Lewis, a civil rights activist and Democratic congressman, was the first black lawmaker to be given the honor of lying in state in the US Capitol rotunda, reports said. A ceremony was held in the rotunda on Monday, including speeches from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
