The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) on Friday, April 19, released CCTV footage of violent riots that occurred in the Creggan area of Derry overnight, during which 29-year-old journalist Lyra McKee was fatally shot.
The footage shows McKee observing the riots, and footage of suspected gunmen. The last clip, showing suspected gunmen, was previously circulated on social media.
The PSNI said it was treated the incident as a “terrorist act,” said a murder inquiry had been opened, and asked members of the public come forward with any information about the incident.
A number of posts on social media showed cars bursting into flames during the riots, while one video appeared to show a person being attended to after multiple shots were reportedly fired. Credit: PSNI via Storyful
