Police arrested a man outside the Victorian parliament in Melbourne on Thursday, September 12, amid fears the car he was in could explode.
According to the Herald Sun, police on the scene broke the windows of the car and dragging the man out. He was arrested, and the area around the parliament was evacuated.
In a statement, cited by The Age, Victoria Police said: “Critical Incident Response Unit officers have attended and transported a man to hospital for assessment about 2.40pm in Spring Street today. The man was removed from his car after threatening self-harm. No one else was injured during the incident and there is no threat to the community.” Credit: Nick Hurley via Storyful
