Satellite Timelapse Shows Lightning Flashing Over California
Timelapse satellite footage shows flashes of lightning sweeping over California on the night of June 22-23, as local news reported over 50,000 lightning events in the state.
A woman and her two dogs were fatally struck by lightning in Pico Rivera as thunderstorms hit, local media reported. ABC 7 identified the woman as 52-year-old Antonia Mendoza.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt Patrick Morey told the Los Angeles Times, "There’s a one-in-a-million chance of something like this happening and it happened.”
