Senator and Congresswoman Blocked From Entering Facility Where Migrant Children Held

Sen Bill Nelson and Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz were denied entry on June 19 to a shelter that housed children who had been separated from their families, in Homestead, Florida.

Nelson and Wasserman Schultz said they had been told earlier by the contractor in charge that they would be allowed to enter the facility.

Nelson said the Trump administration did not want them to “check on the welfare and the care of the children inside.” Credit: Senator Bill Nelson via Storyful
