Strong waves slammed the shore of Bridgetown, Barbados, on Tuesday, September 19, as Hurricane Maria swept through the Caribbean.

The storm only brushed past the northern part of the island and headed directly towards Puerto Rico and St. Croix, according to the National Hurricane Center.
