A group of mothers protesting police brutality and racism were reportedly targeted with tear gas during a rally in Portland, Oregon, on July 18.
In this video, a group of female protesters can first be seen with their arms linked in a line while they are heard chanting “moms are here” and “leave our kids alone.” The demonstration took place outside the Multnomah County Justice Center.
Later, gas canisters and others shooting sparks can be seen landing near the protesters. The demonstration took place on the same night as a group broke into the Portland Police Association building in North Portland and started a fire.
Protests outside the justice center had been taking place for 50 days, according to news reports. Portland’s police chief Chuck Lovell called for an end to the nightly violence in the city. Credit: Lindsey Smith via Storyful
